It has been 25 years since in the name of St Thomas Orthadox church became an independent parish in Perumanur, Thevara, Queen of the Arabian Sea, Kochi. the Ernakulam Mary's Orthodox Church, purchased in the name of late baselios Augen 1 . On July 3, 1980, a cross was erected in the name of Marthomma Slieha. On May 10, 1986, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of St. Mary's Church, H.H Dr. Mathews Mar Severios, the malankara metropolitan of Kochi, laid the foundation stone for the chapel. The chapel was completed in 8 months and consecrated on 24th and 25th January 1987. Sacrifice was offered. The sacraments were presided over by St. Basilios Marthoma Mathews Prathaman Catholic bava.
From 1987 to 22 May 1998, it was a chapel under the St. Mary's Orthodox Church. In order to increase spiritual fellowship, a charity called 'Orthodox Syrian Christian Welfare Association' was started which marked the beginning of the parish. Then, following the prayerful request of the believers residing in Thevara and surrounding areas as parishioners of St. Mary's Orthadox Church, Malankara Metropolitan Basilios Marthomma Mathews II Catholic Bava declared this church as an independent parish on May 22, 1998. 
On June 4, 1998, according to the order of His Holiness Mar Antonios , Metropolitan of Kochi Bhadrasana, Rev. Fr. KT Philip was appointed as First Vicar with effect from 1.7.1998. The worship service was conducted by the Vicar on Friday, July 3rd, 1998, during the Dukrono Feast Day of Marthomma Slieha.On Sunday, July 5th, After Mass, a meeting was held in the church under the chairmanship of the Vicar and the members of the Parish Management Committee were elected for the smooth running of the Parish.
